The oxidative capacity of indoor source combustion derived particulate matter and resulting respiratory toxicity

چکیده
Indoor air pollution sources with emissions of fine particles (PM2.5), including environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) and incense (IS) deteriorate indoor quality may cause respiratory diseases in humans. This study characterized the emission factors (EFs) five types Hong Kong using an chamber. Human alveolar epithelial cells (A549) were exposed to PM2.5 collected from different determine their cytotoxicity. The EF ETS (109.7±36.5 mg/g) was higher than IS (97.1±87.3 mg/g). EFs total polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) carbonyls for ETS, these two combustion showed similar distributions individual PAHs carbonyls. Oxidative damage inflammatory responses (i.e. DNA damage, 8-hydroxy-desoxyguanosine (8-OHdG), tumor necrosis factor-? (TNF-?) interlukin-6 (IL-6)) A549 triggered by exposure generated IS. Different oxidative stress inflammations due accumulation effects mixed organic compounds. High molecular weight correlations markers, most demonstrated significant inflammation. Exposure anthropogenic produced such as results risks (e.g. lung cancer) epithelium within distal human tract, which posed a

Differences between co-cultures and monocultures in testing the toxicity of particulate matter derived from log wood and pellet combustion
BACKGROUND In vitro studies with monocultures of human alveolar cells shed deeper knowledge on the cellular mechanisms by which particulate matter (PM) causes toxicity, but cannot account for mitigating or aggravating effects of cell-cell interactions on PM toxicity. METHODS We assessed inflammation, oxidative stress as well as cytotoxic and genotoxic effects induced by PM from the combustion...

متن کاملParticulate Matter Emission Factors for Biomass Combustion
Emission factor is a relative measure and can be used to estimate emissions from multiple sources of air pollution. For this reason, data from literature on particulate matter emission factors from different types of biomass were evaluated in this paper. Initially, the main sources of particles were described, as well as relevant concepts associated with particle measurements. In addition, arti...

Introduction: The aim of this study was to spatial analysis of PM10 concentrations in the ambient air of Yazd in two seasons, and the zoning by using Kriging interpolation method. Finally, different factors affecting the concentrations of PM10 are marked and standards have been investigated Material and methods: The measurement of PM10 particulates was performed by the monitoring device HAZ-...
متن کاملAssessing the capacity of trees and shrubs species to accumulate of particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5 and PM0.2)
Background and Objective: Today, the presence and increase of particulate matter is one of the serious factors that threaten human health. In the meantime, trees can accumulate airborne particles by their foliage. In this study, the accumulating ability of various PM by the leaf of some tree and shrub species was evaluated in Isfahan. Materials and Methods: 12 species of trees and shrubs were ...
